Engineering Exceptional Learning Ecosystems

WHAT DRIVES YOUR DESIGN?

ARE YOUR LEARNERS ENJOYING THE RIDE?

People enjoy learning new things. People at least feel a sense of relief when they acquire skills and knowledge that helps them solve problems. So training should at a minimum be enjoyable and help people solve problems. But can it be more than that? If training is the vehicle that gets people to where they want to go, do your passengers enjoy the ride? You can create a vehicle that gets people where they want to go and that creates an exceptional experience. This is what drives me.

ENGINEERING

Engineers design and build machines. As an Instructional Designer, I view training as a machine that includes several systems working together to teach people how to do something.

EXCEPTIONAL

There are rules and there are exceptions. Rules provide standards to follow but exceptions create the bar that everyone strives to grasp. I believe exceptional training improves your performance in an environment that leaves you excited for implementation.

LEARNING

You haven’t taught it, if they haven’t learned it. This belief leads my style and content to go where the learners are and help them meet the objectives for the training. Yes you can do it!

ECOSYSTEMS

Coral reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems which allows marine life to thrive around them. When your training program includes diverse systems, modalities, people, and content it will allow your learners to thrive because it harnesses power from an immense system. This is how all training should be built.
